For most Americans, the United States Census is nothing more than a once-a-decade hassle; the questionnaire is too long, too intrusive and too burdensome. But as an elected official for Lauderhill and its representative in the Broward League of Cities, I know the Census is an opportunity to improve the quality of life for each community’s residents. WSFL has gone to the birds…er, ducks!

Kids In Distress recently visited the WSFL’s “Morning Show” and brought some of their favorite feathered friends to tag along. Kids In Distress is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing outreach programs like foster care/adoption, preschool and after care progams to Broward and Palm Beach counties. KID’s annual fundraiser, The Duck Fest Derby, is one of Ft. Lauderdale’s signature events where 20,000 ducks vie to win the $5,000 Grand Prize this Saturday, February 27. Entry to win is $5 per duck. Broward League of Cities Stresses Collaboration as Key to Addressing Municipal Shortfalls

LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Broward League of Cities, a non-partisan, non-profit organization comprised of elected officials from Broward County’s 31 municipal governments, is taking a variety of proactive steps to help municipalities reduce expenses without cutting the quality of life for their residents. The organization created a Fiscal Stewardship Committee dedicated to actively monitoring current financial issues facing municipalities, identifying revenue generating opportunities and strategies in areas of service consolidation and fee examination. The Broward County League of Cities Offers College Scholarships to Students Interested in Government

BROWARD COUNTY, Fla. — With the February 16 application deadline approaching, The Broward League of Cities reminds Broward County high school seniors who plan to attend a Florida college or university and pursue a major in public administration, political science or other government-related field, that four individual $1,000 scholarships will be available to qualified seniors who are residents of Broward County and attending any Broward County Public School or Charter School.
