Morton’s The Steakhouse Toasts Seasonal Wine By The Glass Menu

SOUTH FLORIDA (May 14, 2010) – After circling the globe to uncover only the finest wines for its wine savvy guests, Morton’s The Steakhouse has recently unveiled its latest Wine by the Glass menu. Available at Morton’s South Florida locations including Fort Lauderdale, Boca Raton and West Palm Beach, the menu offers a selection of 27 wines that complement its existing variety of more than 200 bottles. There’s truly something for every palate and to round out any meal. Highlights of the Spring/Summer 2010 selections include:

• A 1995 Kalin Cellars Chardonnay Cuvée LD (available in most states) from Dry Creek that winemaker Terrance Leighton says, “just woke up.”
• The 25th release of 2010 Vintner’s Hall of Fame inductee Randall Grahm’s Bonny Doon “Le Cigare Volant,” from California and offered as a special label “Morton’s Cuvee”. This label is famous for its depiction of a flying saucer hovering above the Rhone, inspired by an actual French law outlawing UFO’s from landing in the vineyards.
• A single vineyard Pinot Noir from Tony Soter’s Willamette estate.
• A rich and creamy Chardonnay from Dan Goldfield at Dutton Goldfield (Russian River).

While Morton’s has won numerous wine awards for its range of bottle offerings from across the globe, they also believe that ordering wine by the glass can enhance the dining experience and offers guests the opportunity to experiment.

“With astonishing values available for premium wines, there’s never been a better time to be a wine consumer,” said Tylor Field III, Morton’s vice president of Wine and Spirits. “By capturing some incredible selections for our wine collection, we’ve been able to create the finest wine by glass menu that Morton’s has ever offered.”

About Morton’s Wine & Spirits program
Morton’s Wine & Spirits program consists of ongoing events and initiatives designed to provide guests with incredible wine experiences at each of Morton’s worldwide locations. The program is supported by Morton’s Sommeliers, a group of more than 100 wine and spirits experts who have passed the first level test of the Guild of Master Sommeliers and work together to create an extensive wine list of at least 200 labels for all of its restaurants. As many as 500 selections are available in key wine cities such as San Francisco and New York. Ongoing 2010 initiatives include Morton’s Bar 12•21 with its value-priced menu of Bar Bites and a newly-added Power Hour in select locations as well as Prime Events at Morton’s — a series of special events and cooking demostrations that includes Scotch tastings, wine blending receptions and Morton’s Master Classes. Morton’s popular wine dinner series hosted by renowned winemakers continues to be favorite among food lovers and wine connoisseurs alike and in October of 2010, every Morton’s region in the U.S. will take part in a special wine dinner co-hosted by the 2nd, 3rd and 4th generations of the Mondavi family of winemakers, which will benefit our 2010 charity partner, the Make-a-Wish Foundation®.
