Discount of 15 percent off on ticket prices is good on purchases made August 1 through August 15
AVENTURA – The Aventura Arts & Cultural Center is putting many of the hit shows in its upcoming new season on sale August 1. An early bird discount of 15 percent good on purchases made through August 15 is being offered on several series subscriptions and individual shows.
“This is a truly exciting season as we continue our mission to provide quality programming for our residents while also creating a cultural destination that brings people to Aventura and shows them all our city has to offer,” said Aventura Mayor Susan Gottlieb. “Ticket buyers can act now to secure their seats to the usually sold-out Founders Day Weekend events and other shows while saving money with our special discount.”
The following performances go on sale August 1 and ticket prices listed are before the early bird discount is applied.
Founders Day Weekend celebrations take center stage with The Hit Men (November 1) and comedian Michael Winslow (November 2). The weekend of music and comedy begins with former members of mega-hit acts, including Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, relating great stories about life on the road and in recording studios while preforming rock and roll classics. Tickets are $40 and $45.
Known as the “Man of 10,000 Sound Effects” and for his roles in all seven Police Academy films, Winslow amazes audiences by creating over 10,000 sound effects from the frenzy of Jimi Hendrix playing the guitar to the roar of a jet plane. Tickets are $32.50 and $37.50.
Winslow’s concert also kicks off the new season of the Aventura Comedy Series presented by Singer Productions and Entertainment, which includes An Evening With Sarge (January 25) and Lisa Landry: That’s Funny… You Don’t Look Jewish (February 22). Tickets are $32.50 and $37.50 with the early bird discount offered for both three-show Aventura Comedy Series subscription and individual tickets.
Families will enjoy the Golden Dragon Acrobats, the premiere Chinese acrobatic touring company, in a performance of breathtaking skill and spellbinding beauty which combines award-winning acrobatics, traditional dance, spectacular costumes, ancient and contemporary music and theatrical techniques (November 24). Tickets are $34.50 and $39.50.
The Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida presents its 2013-14 season featuring choreography by the company’s artistic director Vladimir Issaev, with Pentimento and Firebird (October 19 and 20), The Nutcracker (December 13-15), Doctor Ouch! (March 8 and 9) and the annual Spring Ballet Gala (May 3). An early bird discount is offered for the four-show subscription and prices for individual productions vary.
Two productions also go on sale August 1, but are not eligible for the early bird discount: New World School of the Arts Repertory Dance Ensemble(October 30), one of the country’s leading conservatories, offers a full evening of dance with tickets priced at $12; and the Fourth Annual AT&T Young Stars Showcase (December 8), presented by Northwestern Mutual/Laser Financial Group, features young singers from throughout South Florida performing the best of Broadway in an event benefitting the Aventura Marketing Council Education Foundation with tickets priced at $26.50 and $51.50.
Subscriptions currently are available to the Broward Center Family Fun series at the Aventura Arts & Cultural Center featuring Splat the Cat (October 12), The Very Hungry Caterpillar (November 16), Peter Pan (January 25) and Hansel and Gretel (April 27). Individual tickets will go on sale August 23 for this popular series which has pre-show arts and crafts with Young At Art Museum, complimentary face pace painting and a post-show snack. The four-show subscription is $52 and offers a discount of $2 per show. Single tickets are priced at $15.
Individual tickets already are on sale for the highly-anticipated Aventura debut of the Slow Burn Theatre Company and its production of the Pulitzer Prize- and Tony Award®-winning musical Next to Normal (November 7-10). Tickets are priced at $34.50 and $39.50. The company, which has received critical and audience acclaim for its full-scale productions of inspiring, intelligent musicals, will transfer two productions in its upcoming season to the Aventura Arts & Cultural Center after their runs at West Boca Performing Arts Theater. Tickets for Chess from the musical creators of the hit Mamma, Mia! (April 10-13) will go on sale on a future date.
Tickets will go on sale in the fall for the return of the Miami International Piano Festival and the Foreign Film Series hosted by Shelly Isaacs as well as performances by many Broadway stars, leading edge comedy troupes, acclaimed vocalists and dance companies.
