ArtServe Launches MIC CHECK, New and Improved Open Mic Night

In partnership with School of Rock and Sweet Management Group, ArtServe, South Florida’s award-winning arts services organization, has reinvented and rebranded its monthly open mic night as MIC CHECK, an edgy and exciting showcase of diverse local talent including musicians, poets, spoken word artists, comedians and more.

Formerly Open Mic Tuesdays, MIC CHECK offers artists a stage, sound system and spotlight to perform their art in a new and improved lounge-style setting at ArtServe. Chic high-tops and tables offer guests an intimate place to enjoy the show and the company of their friends over beer and wine from a cash bar and bites from Tula Bistro & Garden. Guests can experience the one-of-a-kind show for just $10, which includes admission, a free soft drink and chips. Admission is free for ArtServe members.

“We wanted to offer both the community and local artists an enhanced, club-inspired open mic night,” said ArtServe’s Hal Axler. “Our open mic nights epitomize our mission at ArtServe by providing a platform for artists to share their talents while also enriching the community through unique art experiences. Our goal is to take that experience to the next level with MIC CHECK.”

On the performance front, ArtServe is making it easier than ever for anyone and everyone to take the stage. Both amateur artists and skilled performers alike benefit from ArtServe’s plug-and-play setup, which includes a full PA system with ready-to-use microphones, amps and speakers as well as a complete lighting package. Performers are only responsible for bringing their instruments, talent and a camera if they want to record their set. Signup is available at www.artserve.org/miccheck.

MIC CHECK takes place at 6 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday of each month and kicks off on Tuesday, February 26 at ArtServe, located at 1350 E. Sunrise Blvd. in Fort Lauderdale. Tickets are available at the door or online at www.artserve.org/miccheck.
