Evening Drive-In Ceremony Honored Distinguished Alumni of Broward County Public Schools
A 2021 NFL Hall of Fame legend, 2021 Grammy-nominated recording artists and a commander and captain in the United States Coast Guard were among the distinguished Broward County high school alumni who were honored by Broward Education Foundation during the Publix Super Markets Charities 2020 “Hall of Fame Awards” presented by Memorial Healthcare System. The first-ever drive-in award ceremony was held the evening of Saturday, December 5 at William T. McFatter Technical College and High School in Davie.
Broward Education Foundation reimagined the annual event, taking extra precautions and factoring in safety protocols and social distancing measures, to fittingly salute this year’s honorees. Guests enjoyed the evening’s program from their cars in the high school’s expansive parking lot watching the awards onstage and on four large LED screens. Award presentations were interspersed with performances by the McArthur High Marching Band, Nova High Titan Cheer Team, Walker Elementary TurnAround Arts Dancers and Coral Springs High Senior and extraordinary vocalist Carynna Joseph. Guests dined on boxed lite bites and beverages and applauded each Hall of Fame recipient and performance with celebratory honks and cheers.
