Broward Performing Arts Foundation Expands Leiser Room at the Broward Center

The Broward Performing Arts Foundation opens the doors of its newly expanded benefactors’ lounge, the Josephine S. Leiser Room, as the 2018-2019 season at the Broward Center begins. The expansion nearly doubles the size of the room, which serves as a private club for the Center’s most generous donors, members of the Patrons’ Circle and Founders’ Club who have made minimum cumulative gifts of $50,000 to the Broward Center.

The amenities offered by the Leiser Room are without parallel for enhancing a theater experience. They include complimentary top-drawer bar service, an elegant buffet, private restrooms and personal and attentive service for members attending evening performances in the Au-Rene Theater. The lounge opens one hour prior to performances and is open during intermission. The room was named in recognition of philanthropist and donor Josephine S. Leiser in 1990.

“As we kick off our most exciting year yet at the Broward Center, it is especially rewarding to know that the increased support from our community has led to the need for the Leiser Room expansion,” said Lisa Kitei, president of the Broward Performing Arts Foundation. “Our Patrons’ Circle membership has grown by nearly 30% percent. We never lose sight of the fact that the support of these members helps the Broward Center fulfill its mission to provide quality programming and educational opportunities,” she added. ‘The Leiser Room is just one of the ways we can say ‘thank you’ to all our generous benefactors.”

With funds contributed by members of the Patrons’ Circle and Founders’ Club, the Broward Center for the Performing Arts continues to expand world-class programming and outstanding entertainment for all ages, enhance one of the largest arts-in-education programs in the country, and continue to develop local talent and arts organizations that reflect the mosaic of cultures represented in the South Florida community.

Most recently, the Foundation raised $60 million to complete the Encore! capital campaign to renovate, renew and revitalize the Broward Center.
