The Captain’s Crew to support pediatric primary and dental care for children with special healthcare needs in Broward County

When the Children’s Diagnostic & Treatment Center’s (CDTC) signature fundraiser, the Waterway Soirée, was cancelled last month due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the non-profit organization’s newest board member Captain Lee Rosbach, star of Bravo’s hit series Below Deck, stepped up to help fill the void.

Lee and CDTC today launched the Captain’s Crew, a virtual fundraising campaign to raise a minimum of $15,000 between now and Monday, June 29 to support children with special healthcare needs living in Broward County.  Funds raised will directly help those who are the most vulnerable, medically and financially, by underwriting CDTC’s comprehensive services such as pediatric primary and dental care for 25 children for an entire year.

“I hope everyone will join me in becoming part of Captain’s Crew. I’m going to be your captain as we raise funds together to help children with special healthcare needs in our community,” said Rosbach. “These children have unique and complicated medical needs and their families were living below the poverty level even before the pandemic. We’re working to ensure these hardships do not prevent these kids from receiving much-needed medical care so we can keep families healthy and happy.”

The public is to invited to join the Captain’s Crew.  Each crew member will receive a personal thank you from Lee and supporters who raise $1,300 (which will support two children for one year) or more by June 29 will receive an exclusive invitation to meet him at a private reception and celebration later this year.

“We are so fortunate that Captain Lee generously offered to lend his name to help support our mission during this intensely trying time,” said Jessica Vones, director of development for CDTC. “The pandemic’s social distancing left a huge gap in our annual fundraising efforts this year, resulting in a loss for us of nearly $250,000. However, the Captain’s Crew is a unique opportunity to help those in our community who are most in need and as a bonus, crew members will have an opportunity meet a renowned celebrity.”
