DAVIE, Fla. – October 8, 2014 – Broward’s Jewish teen athletes are invited to attend team tryouts to represent Broward County in the JCC Maccabi Games®, which, for the first time in the 33-year history of the Games will be held in Broward County next August, hosted by the David Posnack Jewish Community Center along with ArtsFest®.
Tryouts, free to attend, will be held on select Sundays in October and November for the 2015 JCC Maccabi Games®, which will take place August 9-14, 2015. Teens ages 13-16 as of July 31, 2015 may try out for sports including baseball, basketball, lacrosse, soccer, softball, volleyball, dance, swimming, tennis and table tennis. Local teens may be 12 years old to participate in individual sports.

- Boys Basketball 14U, Oct. 19 and Nov. 2, 9, 16; 9 a.m – 10 a.m.
- Boys Basketball 16U, Oct. 19 and Nov. 2, 9, 16; 10 a.m. – 11 a.m.
- Girls Basketball 16U, Oct. 19 and Nov. 2, 9, 16; 11 a.m. – noon
- Girls Volleyball 16U, Oct. 19 and Nov. 2, 9, 16; 11 a.m. – noon

Athletes must attend at least one tryout out to be properly evaluated. Athletes may try out for multiple sports but are permitted to compete in one sport only. If selected to a team, local athlete families are required to house two or more visiting athletes or artists during the 2015 Games.

For the first time, the JCC Maccabi Games® and ArtsFest® will be held in Broward County August 9-14, 2015. The second largest organized sports program in the world for Jewish teens will involve 1,200 visiting athletes and artists, 300 local athletes and artists, 300 coaches and 1,000 volunteers, in addition to host families, visiting families, spectators and community partners.
