The Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation (GHOF), a non-profit that is dedicated to saving the seas, supporting groundbreaking research and helping foster the next generation of ocean conservationists, has announced the appointment of the following new board members:
Jessica Harvey is project manager for the GHOF. Daughter of world-renowned artist, conservationist and founder and chairman of the GHOF, Dr. Guy Harvey, Jessica’s love of the environment fueled her passion to pursue a career in conservation. Jessica started her career with a degree in Zoology at the University of Edinburgh and worked for three and a half years as a terrestrial research officer at the Cayman Islands Department of Environment. An accomplished angler, Jessica is an IGFA Jr. World Record Holder and part of the Guy Harvey expedition team that travels the world to study and document sea life and wildlife. Jessica collaborated and hosts several educational and conservation initiatives online for the GHOF, including Shark School and the Jessica Harvey’s Expedition Notebook educational short videos. She joins her father for weekly Facebook Live sessions, where they share expedition insights of the sea and art techniques for people of all ages.
Robert Kornahrens is founder, president and CEO of Fort Lauderdale-based Advanced Roofing, Inc., a full-service commercial roofing contractor that provides services for buildings in Florida and the Caribbean. Kornahrens got into solar energy 15 years ago and today Advanced Roofing, Inc. ranks among the top 50 in solar energy and the top 10 in roofing in the country. Kornahrens is active in several professional associations and community organizations including the National Roofing Contractors Association, Sonrise Mission, Winterfest Boat Parade, Multiple Sclerosis Foundation and the American Heart Association Broward Heart Walk. Kornahrens has a B.S. in Business Administration and Management from University of Arizona.
Steve Roden is the CEO of Guy Harvey Enterprises, overseeing operations for the Guy Harvey global lifestyle brand, developing new products and services and implementing creative and innovative strategies. A knowledge entrepreneur, Roden has spent his career turning around small companies and building a series of start-ups that were either sold to public companies or merged with larger entities. Roden has also worked closely with Florida State University mentoring professors in launching ideas through creativity and innovation. He was named “Partner of the Year” by the FSU Research Foundation and has been recognized twice as a top entrepreneur in Florida by FSU’s Jim Moran Institute for Global Entrepreneurship.
George Schellenger is a two-time Emmy award-winning film producer and videographer and an accomplished author. With more than 30 years of experience in television and content development focused on science, ocean and space exploration, he currently serves as the executive producer for Guy Harvey Enterprises where he oversees all multimedia content creation and editing at the company. Schellenger has a master’s degree in journalism from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
“We welcome these new board members who will work closely with us to develop and expand our educational programming,” said Dr. Harvey. “They all have extensive experience in curriculum development, educational focused fundraising and content production, all of which will be a tremendous asset to the GHOF.”
