Historic Stranahan House Museum Kicks Off 2017 with Holiday Hangover

~The third annual event raised more than $13,000 for the historic site in Fort Lauderdale~

The Historic Stranahan House Museum hit the ground running in 2017 as its third annual Holiday Hangover generated more than $13,000. The sold out event welcomed more than 300 guests to Broward County’s oldest and most historic home for an exciting evening of food tastings from local restaurants, specialty cocktails, house tours and live entertainment.

“We are amazed at how much this event has grown in just three short years,” said Historic Stranahan House Museum Executive Director April Kirk. “This event began as a conversation with a board member and some friends of the House who wanted to help raise funds. Thanks to them, we have attracted new sponsors, volunteers, partners and donors to create a truly memorable night!”

Ashley Boxer of Memorial Healthcare System and Mike Gossman of Moore Stephens Lovelace CPAs served as event Co-Chairs. The Holiday Hangover committee consisted of Sandra Veszi Einhorn, Alyse Gossman, Maggie Gunther, Chris Haerting, Jené Kapela, April Kirk, Michael Lessne, Peter Neirouz, Everett Osceola and Mitch Taylor.

“Aside from raising funds for key programs and services, our goal was to engage and connect a new generation with the House,” said Holiday Hangover Co-Chair Ashley Boxer. “Simply put, we want our friends and neighbors to learn about the rich history that shaped our community and the legacy of its founding family.”

Food sponsors of Holiday Hangover included American Social Las Olas, Aussie Blends, Bob Roth’s New River Groves, Colada Cuban Coffee House, Georgia Pig, Gino’s Italian Market, Gran Forno Pronto, Kitchen 420, Riverside Market South, Smoke BBQ, Temple Street Eatery and Temptations Caterers.

Liquor was provided by Breakthru Beverage and served by Stache Drinking Den + Coffee Bar. Beer was provided by LauderAle and live music was provided by Chris Monteleone of Sosos. Guests enjoyed a photo booth provided by Premier Digital Events and tried out the CycleParty and the Ecoboat, which were also onsite.

Holiday Hangover attendees also had the opportunity to win unique experiences and opportunities during the premier raffle. Items included a Kendra Scott shopping experience, the Ultimate Gala ticket package for local charity events, a VIP weekend getaway to the Everglades, a private painting party at the Stranahan House, and dinner for two at the museum. All attendees were also entered in a drawing to win a 25-person private party at the Stranahan House.

Additional Holiday Hangover sponsors were Memorial Healthcare System, Wells Fargo, BB&T, EDSA, Moore Stephens Lovelace CPAs, TrippScott, CycleParty, Dutton Real Estate Services, Fertig Gramling, GrayRobinson, Kapela Leadership Solutions and Veritext.

Proceeds from Holiday Hangover and all Historic Stranahan House Museum events are used to support its preservation and continue its educational outreach efforts, which provide reduced-rate and free school programs to local children.
