Holy Cross Hospital Opens New Women’s Center in Fort Lauderdale

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Holy Cross Hospital CEO and President Patrick A. Taylor, M.D., has announced the opening of Phase I of the new Dorothy Mangurian Comprehensive Women’s Center at Holy Cross HealthPlex, located at 1000 NE 56 St. in Fort Lauderdale.

The Dorothy Mangurian Comprehensive Women’s Center offers comprehensive women’s services in a healing, spa-like environment. The Jeane M. Dorini Women’s Imaging and Diagnostic Suite serves as the nucleus of this comprehensive center, offering advanced breast imaging including digital mammography, minimally invasive diagnostic procedures, stereotactic breast biopsy, bone density studies and ultrasonography.

“Women’s healthcare needs differ significantly from men’s, and with the new Dorothy Mangurian Comprehensive Women’s Center, we are providing women with a one-stop, state-of-the art facility where they can receive services, treatment and care in a comfortable, soothing environment,” said Dr. Taylor.

At the Women’s Center, patients will develop a one-on-one relationship with a “Patient Navigator” who will answer questions, coordinate care with the patient’s physician and connect patients to resources. Future plans for the Women’s Center include special programming, a medical spa, a meditation chapel, a lifestyle center, education center and a Heart Healthy Café.

The opening comes just before National Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October. A grand opening celebration, which will include a free health fair for the community, is planned for Saturday, October 23, from 10 am to 2 pm.

Holy Cross is ranked in the top five percent of hospitals in the nation and is 5-star rated for the treatment of maternity care and women’s health, according to HealthGrades, the leading independent healthcare ratings organization.

The $15 million Women’s Center is funded entirely through philanthropy, including $5 million in donations from the Harry T. Mangurian, Jr. Foundation and more than 100 pledges for $5,000 from “Girlfriends,” women in the community who each made a pledge as lifelong members of the Dorothy Mangurian Comprehensive Women’s Center.
