Kids In Distress Opens Preschool to Community

WILTON MANORS, Fla. – Cutting a ribbon decorated with tiny traced hands, Kids In Distress (KID) marked the grand opening of its new Preschool PLUS program. The KID Preschool PLUS is now open to all families who want the highest quality, individualized and enriching preschool experience for their children.

A continuation of its mission to support families, KID expanded the preschool by opening classes to the community for infants 6 weeks to children 5 years of age. KID will offer a daily preschool program and extended evening and weekend hours for families with children up to 12 years old.

“It is with great pride that we pay tribute to an organization like KID here in Wilton Manors,” said Wilton Manors Mayor Gary Resnick. “I am happy to help usher in a new era of programs at KID that are focused on serving and supporting the entire community in raising educated, healthy children.”

During the celebration, Resnick presented Kids In Distress CEO Tom Tomczyk with a special proclamation honoring KID for its dedication to families and declaring October 8 as Kids In Distress Day.

“In today’s stressful economic time, KID has stepped up to be available to serve many more children and families in our community,” said Fort Lauderdale Mayor Jack Seiler. “The preschool serves as a safety net, allowing all families to receive the quality child care and expert parenting support KID has provided for the past 30 years.”

In addition, KID will now offer an array of enrichment opportunities such as swimming lessons and water safety, Mommy ‘n Me and Daddy ‘n Me classes, family fun nights, parent support and enrichment opportunities, parents night out, Saturday fun days, cooking classes, computer lab, homework assistance and much more.

“Our preschool has always provided an exceptional education to children who need that extra care and attention,” said Tomczyk. “In this challenging economy, all families need the support of programs for their children beyond that of the typical childcare setting. Our hope is that we can provide the support parents and children need to become strong, happy families.”
