Navigation Just Got Easier at 53rd Annual Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show®

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (Sept. 14, 2012) – Making your way around the 53rd Annual Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show will be easier than ever before thanks to new enhancements to MyBoatShow, the smartphone app designed to help navigate the show’s docks, land areas tents and transportation. Show Management, the company that produces the world’s largest in-water boat show, continues to put the most important show information in the palm of your hand.

New features for MyBoatShow, set to debut in the yachting capital of the world from October 25-29, include the following:

  • a new search feature allowing attendees to search for boats by name;
  • an upgraded “favorite” feature enabling users to see which boats they favored at other Show Management produced boat shows;
  • a contact form renamed “Connect,” allowing users to connect with Show Management, access their YouTube page, Twitter, Facebook and the ability to subscribe to the Show Management e-newsletter.

“The features we’ve added to the MyBoatShow app make it easier for each person to create a boat show experience that best meets his or her personal preferences,” said Steve Sheer, director of marketing/advertising/sponsorships with Show Management, the company that manages and produces the show. “It’s just one example of how we continually look for new ways to engage attendees with innovative additions to their overall show experience.”

Launched at the 2011 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, the free app, available on iPhone and Android platforms, provides show maps and allows attendees to search for exhibitors, manufacturers, product categories and boats by specifications and size. The app, which is available for all Show Management produced boat shows, also provides the show schedule, seminar information, show transportation schedules and maps, food and drink locations, restroom locations, and emergency services. It also can be used to purchase show tickets and see the latest show news.

In addition to the new smartphone app capabilities, Show Management has added to its website a more user-friendly search feature and display of boats. A seminar section now includes a summary of the topic, the speaker and time the seminar takes place. Visitors to the website also will be able to connect with AIM Marine Group magazines including PassageMaker, Power & Motoryacht, Sail, Soundings, Soundings Trade Only and Yachts International.

The 53rd Annual Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show takes place this year at six locations: Bahia Mar Yachting Center, Hall of Fame Marina, Las Olas Municipal Marina, Hilton Fort Lauderdale Marina, Broward County Convention Center and Sails Marina.

The show will feature billions of dollars worth of boats, yachts, super yachts, electronics, engines and thousands of boating accessories from every major marine manufacturer and boat builder across the globe, as well as exotic cars, clothing and jewelry.

Attendees at this year’s show will be greeted by a freshly designed show entrance and guided through the pedestrian-friendly layout with enhanced directional signage and a roaming guest services staff. Attractive themed areas are being created to engage each marine market’s respective fans. Entertainment of various sorts, for show-goers of all ages, is being planned to create a great experience for everyone who loves to get out on the water.

Other activities at the show include marine seminars, fishing clinics, live musical entertainment and an International Food Garden. Back again is the Drop N’ Go dock where boats up to 40 feet may drop off or pick up guests at the Hall of Fame Marina show location on the Intracoastal Waterway.
