“Ribbons for the Children is vitally important because the funds raised provide critical support to the children and families infected and affected by HIV/AIDS,” said Maria Pierson, event co-chair and CEO of Pierson Grant Public Relations. “The stories of the work that is done at CDTC and the impact it has on families is such an inspiration.”

The annual event commemorates World AIDS Day and raises funds to support CDTC’s Comprehensive Family AIDS Program (CFAP) which serves children and families infected and affected with HIV/AIDS. Thanks to the funds raised, the center is able to provide a one-stop, family-centered approach to addressing the complete care and needs of more than 2,800 women, teens and children living with HIV. The CFAP program also provides comprehensive wrap-around services to women who are pregnant and HIV positive and is extremely proud of its 0% transmission rate from mother to baby.

“We humbly thank the talented artists who donated their work to support CDTC’s mission,” said Chuck Williams co-chair of the event. “CFAP’s support and services have had a profound impact on the lives of so many.”

CDTC established the CFAP in 1991, as the lead agency in Broward County for the Ryan White, Part D program to help an underserved and growing population of HIV positive women, infants, children and youth. Clients have access to a full array of onsite health care services for HIV including primary and specialty care, phlebotomy, gynecological screenings, nutrition, pediatric dental services, medication education, and counseling. In addition, medical case managers provide support and linkage to other crucial services. The Center is one of 12 local “Test & Treat” locations in Broward County. Thanks to this high-quality health care program and the dedicated support of CDTC’s medical team, patients are achieving undetectable viral loads, reducing the likelihood of transmission.
