The Broward Center for the Performing Arts

Pierson Grant Public Relations has employed targeted strategies to engage The Broward Center for the Performing Arts’ stakeholders in South Florida, one of the nation’s most diverse communities. As a result, the venue has consistently earned a spot among the top 10 theaters in the country from leading industry publication, Pollstar, based on audience attendance. In 2020, the Broward Center received a prestigious nomination for Theater of the Decade from Pollstar.

As the agency of record for more than two decades providing publicity for ticketed events, fundraising events, and educational and institutional programming, Pierson Grant has been instrumental in growing and protecting the brand of the Broward Center as it expanded, pushing its boundaries literally and figuratively.

In the realm of public affairs, our agency has provided counsel and support for labor issues, governmental collaborations, the pandemic’s impact on performing arts spaces, and leadership changes.

On the Broward Center’s main campus, Pierson Grant has publicized the venue’s expanded performance, education and hospitality services created by an ambitious $60 million transformative slate of upgrades that included a restaurant, ballroom, the all-inclusive experience now known as the Spirit Club Level, and the Rose Miniaci Arts Education Center. The expansion resulted in an increase of more than 110,000 annual visits and $14 million in additional revenue each year since completion.

Our agency also announced and supported the opening of new Broward Center-managed venues such as the Aventura Arts & Cultural Center in Miami-Dade County, the Miramar Cultural Center in Miramar, and the Rose & Alfred Miniaci Performing Arts Center on the campus of Nova Southeastern University in Davie.

Most important among these has been the Broward Center’s management of the iconic Parker Playhouse in Fort Lauderdale which was rebranded The Parker following a $30 million project that returned the 50-year-old entertainment landmark to state-of-the-art status and added new hospitality spaces.

With targeted niche media and social media outreach, our agency has grown public support and attendance for one of the largest arts-in-education programs in the United States as the Broward Center offers free school day performances, summer camps, and classes for students from pre-K through 12th grade.

By providing publicity for its performances, institutional initiatives, fundraising and educational programs, Pierson Grant has contributed to the Broward Center becoming the cultural epicenter of the community as it bustles with world-class entertainment, classes, innovative arts-based programs and events that have ignited a cultural and economic transformation of Greater Fort Lauderdale.
