The Dairy Queen® System is Set to Make Miracles on July 26

DQ® Miracle Treat Day Will Benefit Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals®

MINNEAPOLIS – Seven years ago the Dairy Queen® system hosted the first-ever combined U.S. and Canadian Miracle Treat Day and since then it has become one of summer’s most celebrated events. On Thursday, July 26, communities throughout the U.S. and Canada once again will come together to make miracles and support children in need during the combined 7th Annual DQ® Miracle Treat Day. That day, participating Dairy Queen locations will donate $1 or more from every Blizzard® Treat sold to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals®, a charity that raises funds to help save and improve the lives of kids treated at 170 children’s hospitals across North America.

“When we first decided to host a system-wide event that would involve the entire Dairy Queen family, we had no idea how much impact it would have and how it would grow in size and popularity each year,” said John Gainor, president and CEO of International Dairy Queen, Inc. (IDQ). “Miracle Treat Day has become such a celebration of life and hope, as well as a fundraiser that draws support from local communities of families, neighbors, friends and people from all walks of life who are eager to help the children in their cities and towns who need it the most. The Dairy Queen system really pulls out all the stops to make this event successful each year and we thank everyone who supports us.”

Last year, Dairy Queen locations across the U.S. and Canada raised more than $5 million on Miracle Treat Day for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. Since 1984, the Dairy Queen system has raised more than $90 million through fundraising efforts including Miracle Treat Day, the Miracle Balloon campaign and other local initiatives, and proudly is one of the top 10 contributors to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.

The OREO® Blizzard Flavor Treat, still the most popular Blizzard Treat flavor of all time, will be featured as the Miracle Treat Day “Blizzard of the Day.” New Blizzard of the Month Chocolate Candy Shop, as well as the rest of the Blizzard Treat flavors, also will be available on Miracle Treat Day.

The incredible popularity of the Blizzard brand is what led the Dairy Queen system to initiate the Blizzard Fan Club in 2005 and the Dairy Queen Facebook fan page in 2008. Today, the Fan Club is 3.9 million members strong while the DQ Facebook fan page has more than 5 million friends. About Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals
Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals raises funds for 170 children’s hospitals across the United States and Canada, which, in turn, use the money where it’s needed the most. When a donation is given it stays in the community, helping local kids. Since 1983, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals has raised more than $4 billion, most of it $1 at a time. These donations have gone to support research and training, purchase equipment, and pay for uncompensated care, all in support of the mission to save and improve the lives of as many children as possible.
