Kudos to TooJay’s Deli! TooJay’s Wins Restaurant Neighbor Award for Second Consecutive Year
TooJay’s Deli has been selected as a winner of the 2019 Restaurant Neighbor Award from the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation for the second consecutive year in recognition of its efforts on behalf of Feeding Florida to end hunger in the state of Florida. The prestigious national award honors restaurants for extraordinary community service.
“This honor means so much to the entire TooJay’s team who go above and beyond to raise funds for Feeding Florida,” said Max Piet, president and CEO of TooJay’s and board member for Feeding South Florida. “It’s never been more important to us to rally behind the state’s leading organization in the fight to end hunger.”
One of the most notable fundraising campaigns the restaurant company held was when TooJay’s CEO and President Max Piet raised the stakes on World Kindness Day and climbed onto the roof of the company’s Lake Worth restaurant, refusing to come down until $10,000 was raised to help Feeding Florida stock its pantries. Thanks to the generous response from neighbors, friends and businesses, the fundraising goal was surpassed and more than $14,000 was raised.
Funds and volunteer hours donated by TooJay’s throughout the year assist Feeding Florida in providing food to 2.8 million Floridians facing hunger, including 800,000 children and 600,000 seniors.
Founded in 1981, TooJay’s currently serves guests at 30 restaurants in Palm Beach and Broward counties, Collier County, the Treasure Coast, the West Coast of Florida, the Orlando area and The Villages.
TooJay’s received the 2019 Best of Palm Beach County Awards for Best Sandwich Shop and Best Dessert from The Palm Beach Post, the 2018 Best of the Menu Tracker for its Nova Latkes from Nation’s Restaurant News, the 2019 and 2018 Restaurant Neighbor Award as a State Winner from the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation for its work with Feeding Florida, the 2019 and 2018 Dining Award for Best Deli from Orlando Magazine.
